Thibault Barbier

Thibault Barbier is a founding partner of atelier georges. Born in Tours (France) in 1984, he is a landscape engineer who graduated from the École nationale supérieure de la nature et du paysage de Blois in 2008, and an urban planner who graduated from the DSA d'architecte-urbaniste de l'ENSA Paris-Est in 2010.

After 6 years of teaching with architect Didier Rebois in the "Architecture des Milieux" program at ENSA Paris-la Villette, he joined ENSA Paris-Est to coordinate the Territoire bachelor's degree program with Sébastien Marot and teach in the Transformation master's program.

His practice as a landscape architect is based on an open, forward-looking approach rather than a specific disciplinary field, and he has worked in France for the Obras and UapS agencies, and in Europe for PROAP in Lisbon (Portugal) and PLH in Odense (Denmark).

In 2014, he founded atelier georges, an agency that won the Palmarès des Jeunes Urbanistes, several Europan competitions and was nominated for the Équerre d'Argent in 2024 for the conversion of the Caserne Mellinet in Nantes. Through a practice that is both research-based and operational, ranging from public spaces and buildings to territorial projects, the agency addresses issues of land, construction and territorial transition in the face of the new climate.

In 2021, Thibault Barbier was awarded tenure as a lecturer and joined the teaching team for the DSA in architecture and urban planning, coordinated by Éric Alonzo and Pierre Alain Trévelo. He is also responsible for ENSA Paris-Est's double-diploma in landscape architecture, in conjunction with the École de la Nature et du Paysage at INSA Centre-Val de Loire.
