Échelle Un | incubateur

Launched in 2016 by the school, the Échelle Un scheme has already supported nearly 200 start-ups across a range of sectors, from architecture and urban planning to design, heritage, landscape architecture and scenography.

This support enables them to develop their entrepreneurial activities with confidence.

Each year, around twenty organisations are selected by a panel of professionals. The assessment criteria focus on the coherence of the project, the candidates’ potential for success and their motivation.

Support

The programme is structured around five pillars essential to the success and sustainability of a business:

• Positioning: clarifying one’s offering, establishing one’s identity and standing out in a competitive sector
• Structuring your business: organising your management, optimising your business model, choosing your management tools
• Developing your business and your network: accessing opportunities
• Communicating about your projects and initiatives: showcasing your work, raising your profile, winning people over
• Anticipate the future: stay abreast of developments, prepare for the next stages of your growth

The programme draws on methodological guidance, feedback from experience, peer-to-peer exchanges and meetings with industry professionals.

One of the programme’s highlights is a short agency presentation exercise in front of industry professionals. This role-play often represents a key moment in the programme, enabling participants to refine their positioning and messaging.

Organisation

The programme runs from September to May, with an average of three days per month.

The sessions include:

• lectures and round-table discussions;
• exclusive training sessions;
• individual consultation sessions with communications and legal professionals;
• practical and themed workshops;
• meetings with key players in the construction and urban planning sectors;
• access to certain university resources: library, databases, photocopying facilities;
• complimentary subscriptions to various tools, including M2BPO for monitoring and managing calls for tenders;
• individual advisory sessions with the Syndicat de l’Architecture.

Attendance at the scheduled sessions is compulsory. It is an essential requirement for the smooth running of the support programme and the collective dynamic of the cohort.

Training certificates are issued to enable participants to meet the annual requirements for architects registered with the Order (twenty hours of training per year).

Applications

The call for applications is published every year in February/March.

It is open to architects, town planners, landscape architects, architect-engineers, project management consultants, designers and scenographers.

Projects at all stages of development are eligible: from start-ups to established firms, provided they have been in existence for no more than six years (excluding periods of parental leave, maternity leave, sick leave, etc.).

Entry fees

Fixed entry fee per practice for one partner: €800
• A surcharge of €150 applies for each additional partner.
Payment in instalments is available. A request for the registration fees to be covered may be made to the FIF PL, subject to eligibility and the conditions in force.
