David Mangin
David Mangin is an architect (1970) and urban planner (PhD, 2000), professor of architecture at Ensa Paris-Est, and winner of the 2008 Grand Prix de l'urbanisme. Academically, he is responsible for the Master's program in Metropolises at Ensa Paris-Est and has published numerous works on drawing (Desire Lines, Parenthèses, 2015), urban projects (Projet urbain, with Philippe Panerai, Parenthèses, 1999), the mechanisms of the contemporary city (La ville franchisée, formes et structures de la ville contemporaine, Éditions de la Villette, 2004), alternatives to the city by and for the car (La ville passante, Parenthèses, 2008), issues of commercial urban planning (Du Far West à la ville, Parenthèses, 2014), analysis and proposals for the Parisian megacity (Paris/Babel, une mégapole européenne, Éditions de la Villette / Éav&t, 2013) and the relationships between underground public transport networks and cities (Mangroves urbaines, du métro à la ville with Marion Girodo and SEURA architects, Carré, 2016). He is currently coordinating international research to build a “comparative atlas of city centers or formal and informal urban planning, the need for both.”
Professionally, he is a partner at SEURA architects (Florence Bougnoux, Jean-Marc Fritz, David Mangin). They have completed or developed urban projects (Les Halles in Paris, Le Raquet in Douai, Montaudran Aerospace in Toulouse, Pont de l'Ane in Saint-Étienne, etc.), metropolitan areas (Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan area), megacities (AIGP 2008-2017 and consultation on the roads of the future Grand Paris 2019), public spaces (in Pessac, Toulouse, Castres, etc.), infrastructure (in Marseille), housing (in Lilas, Toulouse, Nanterre, , etc.) and facilities (in Montigny – school complex and gymnasium).
