winter school

The winter school Caring/Curing Architecture organized at École d'architecture de la ville & des territoires Paris-Est is an intensive one-week exercise that gives students the opportunity to work together on transversal reflections on the city, the territory and architecture.

Throughout the week, more than 250 students from the school and from schools around the world can participate in thematic workshops led by renowned architects, designers, photographers and other creative professionals on the theme of Caring/Curing

Curated by architect and teacher Iris Lacoudre, our winter school will explore the notion of care as a gesture of attention and through several scales, from our daily lives to the multiple lives of architecture.

"Cleaning, cooking, repairing, washing, changing a bulb, ironing, painting the walls, sweeping the floor, dusting, doing the dishes, trashing… The omnipresence of these gestures in our everydaylives, yet invisible, makes it a large field to be explored. The ambition of this week is to work with these ordinary elements to consider them as extra-ordinary. From February 13 to 17, 2023, the school will potentially shift its usual program, as many tactics, multiple ways to inhabit it. A potential to deal with what we have, to create events, to celebrate as a place with malleable uses, intertwined with everydaylife. We will study, experience, love and performe, in every corner of the school, even the ignored spaces, to celebrate their potential." says Iris Lacoudre, curator.
