Every year, the school opens its doors to mark National Architecture Days, offering a varied programme of workshops, guided tours, activities and exhibitions for the general public.

For the 2026 edition, the school is partnering with the Paris-Vallée de la Marne Urban Community to offer reading sessions for young children.

WORKSHOPS

Hands-on stone engraving workshops
A fun introduction to stone engraving led by young people from the Maison de Compagnons in Champs-sur-Marne.
Suitable for all ages (from 6 years old). Free entry, subject to availability

Roofing workshops
Roofers create the outer shell of a building to protect it from the elements. Using scale models, young Compagnons will demonstrate how to install the various materials they work with: aluminium, zinc, slate and tiles.

Stone-carving workshop
Stone carvers work with and transform stone, practising their craft using markings and a wide range of traditional and contemporary tools. Alongside the live workshops, young Compagnons will be on hand to raise public awareness of the specific aspects of their trades and to stage demonstrations of carving simple pieces.

Clay
An introduction to clay through a beginner’s pottery workshop, during which young and old alike will have the opportunity to shape an object of their choice, which they can take home with them.

Storytelling
A storytelling session featuring tales and children’s picture books for the little ones at the library, organised in partnership with the Paris-Vallée de la Marne urban community’s network of media libraries

Lego® / Magic Sand
Young and old alike are invited to design a house that withstands climatic conditions, using two building materials of their choice: Lego® and magic sand.

Kapla® Challenge
Alone or in a team, take on the challenge of building the tallest residential tower using wooden planks made from Landes pine. You’re free to design it however you like, but be careful with the balance – it could prove fatal!

TOURS

School tour
Come and explore the ENSA Paris-Est building! Located on the Cité Descartes campus in Champs-sur-Marne, this school of architecture was designed by architect Bernard Tschumi and opened in 1999. It is characterised by its suspended lecture theatre, its large atrium and its numerous double-height workshops, offering a quality of space conducive to both work and discussion. A full tour of the school led by a student architect.
Duration: 30 mins (times to be confirmed).

Tour of the Cité Descartes campus
Recognised as a hub for sustainable urban development, the Cité Descartes campus in Champs-sur-Marne brings together, on a site covering more than 120 hectares, three prestigious higher education institutions and numerous facilities belonging to Gustave Eiffel University, all characterised by their remarkable architecture. Come and discover them on a guided tour led by a student from the school.
Duration: 45 mins (times to be confirmed), subject to favourable weather conditions.

EXHIBITIONS

Ahmed Shamia – Building, Beyond Absence
An exhibition dedicated to the work of the Palestinian architect and artist, a PAUSE programme laureate, who passed away in May 2025. Curated by his wife, Sara Alqataa, the exhibition brings together drawings, models and archives rescued from Gaza. A project that revives the memory of a territory and its inhabitants, and reveals an architecture designed to protect, bring people together and preserve beauty despite the chaos. The exhibition will be on display from 5 to 21 October in the lobby of ENSA Paris-Est.
