As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, the school invites two international experts—practising architects and/or researchers—each year to attend the project workshop presentations, engage with the teaching staff and student body, and view the work produced by students from the first year of the Bachelor’s degree right through to post-Master’s programmes.
Each workshop entrusts one of the students with the task of presenting, in a few minutes, the themes studied, the pedagogical approaches taken and the work produced during the semester. This comprehensive, commented review of the workshops, known as the “Grand Tour”, leads to the drafting of a report and a discussion, thereby offering the school’s teaching staff the opportunity to take a step back and reflect on their practice.
The experts invited for the Grand Tour of the second semester of 2025/26, which will take place on Friday 26 June, are Paolo Carpi and Anna MacIver-Ek.
Paolo Carpi graduated from the IUAV University of Venice in 2004. He is one of the founding partners of the architectural practice Baukuh; he is also co-founder of the international architecture journal San Rocco.
In 2019, he obtained his PhD from the University of Genoa. Paolo Carpi has taught at the Faculty of Architecture in Genoa, the Politecnico di Milano and in various international workshops. He joined Ensa Paris-Est at the start of the 2025–2026 academic year to teach the project module on the third year of the apprenticeship-based Bachelor’s degree.
Anna MacIver-Ek studied architecture at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio and at ETH Zurich. She is currently an associate lecturer at Ensa Paris-Est and a visiting professor at EPFL in Lausanne, having previously served as an interim professor of urban architecture at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and as an assistant at ETH Zurich. She gained experience at the architectural practice architecten de vylder vinck taillieu before co-founding MacIver-Ek Chevroulet and la–clique in 2020. In 2021, the practice received the Swiss Art Award in the Architecture category.
