In his lecture entitled ‘Society of Rooms’, architect Christian Scheidegger offers a reflection on the spatial characteristics and possibilities of the built environment.
After graduating as an architect from ETH Zurich in 2004, Christian Scheidegger joined Christian Kerez’s practice, where he led, amongst other projects, the Leutschenbach Schoolhouse project in Zurich. In 2009, he founded Atelier Scheidegger Keller with Jürg Keller; the practice’s research focuses primarily on spatial issues relating to housing. The practice’s work has been recognised with several awards, including the 2015 Bauweltpreis, Beton 17, the City of Zurich’s 2016–2020 Award for Good Buildings, the 2021 AtuPrix and the 2021 Design Vanguard.
In 2023, ‘Atelier Scheidegger Keller – Workbook’ was published, the first monograph dedicated to the practice’s work since its foundation.
Christian Scheidegger taught at ETH Zurich for several years and was also an external expert at Cooper Union in New York and a project leader at the Academy of Porto. In 2025–2026, he was a visiting professor at EPFL alongside Jürg Keller, where they jointly led the vertical studio ‘It’s a question of space!’.
Christian Scheidegger is a member of the Bund Schweizer Architektinnen und Architekten (BSA).

Organised by architects and lecturers Tristan Chadney, Laurent Esmilaire and Éric Lapierre, the ‘Tuesday Lectures’ series Habiter/Exister invites architects to present a small number of buildings in detail, using them as a basis to share their conceptual perspectives on the broader issue of housing.
