Selected to represent France at the 2027 Venice Architecture Biennale, the project 𝑅𝐸𝑆 𝑃𝑈𝐵𝐿𝐼𝐶𝐴: 𝑊𝐻𝐴𝑇 𝐼𝑆 𝑇𝐻𝐼𝑆 𝑆𝑃𝐴𝐶𝐸 𝐵𝐸𝑇𝑊𝐸𝐸𝑁 𝑌𝑂𝑈 𝐴𝑁𝐷 𝑀𝐸? organised by Particules and Cuesta, with Nicolas Tixier, Les Films de la Villeneuve and TRIBU DD, brings together the ENSA schools of Brittany, Grenoble and Paris-Est as academic partners. This is a way for the architecture schools to assert their position as active participants in contemporary thinking and in national and international debates on the 1977 law and the future of architectural education.

The role that the three architecture schools will play in the curatorial project for the French Pavilion will focus on exploring three neighbourhoods built in the 1970s, located near their respective campuses (Le Blosne in Rennes City and Metropolis, Le Mont d’Est in the City of Noisy-le-Grand and La Villeneuve in Grenoble-Alpes Metropolis). Together with their students and local partners, the schools will produce a visible educational, cultural and professional contribution, rooted in their local area and presentable in Venice.

Inspired by the European educational Grand Tour, the initiative will bring together young adults aged 18 to 25 living in these neighbourhoods who, through their studies, apprenticeships and community involvement, share a common interest in “public affairs”. Together, they will form a community of investigators known as a cohort, which will explore and debate public affairs in these three neighbourhoods before gathering at Cita Marghera in Venice, a site explored by the Università Iuav di Venezia.

For architecture students, taking part in this Grand Tour and the Biennale is a way to gain professional experience through practice, fostering real-world experience, the acquisition of transferable skills and access to professional networks.
